РІЗДВО ПРЕСВЯТОЇ БОГОРОДИЦІ

Є дані про те, що Церква святкує Празник Різдва Пресвятої Богородиці щонайменше з початку 6-го століття. Празник припадає тільки тиждень після початку нового Церковного року (Індикту). Цікаво звернути увагу, що останнє велике свято перед кінцем Церковного року – це Свято Успіння. Рік починається народженням на світ Марії, а кінчається її народженням у світ Невидимий! Образ нашого життя! І заклик наслідувати її покірність та відданість Богові і відкритість на Його натхнення та провід.

Датою, коли відзначати це Свято Церква прийняла на підставі річниці посвячення Храму в Єрусалимі, якого побудували згідно з переданням над домом Праведної Анни, матері Марії, бабусі Господа Ісуса. Потім на підставі цієї дати встановили святкування Зачаття від Праведної Анни Пречистої Богородиці на 22-го грудня – 9 місяців без одного дня (єдиний Господь має повно 9 місяців між Його Зачаттям – 7-го квітня на Благовіщення і Його Народженням 7-го січня – це тому, що Він Людина від самого зачаття звершена, досконала).

Немає документальної підстави на це Свято в Св. Письмі але є підстави в переданню. Апокрифічна книга "Протоєвангелія Якова" описує передання про зачаття і народженням Марії. Там каже про те, як Йояким і Анна будучи вже в старості і бездітними з плачем благають у Бога чудо, щоб таки послав їм дитинку. А Він їм відповідає, що Він їм пошле таку Дитинку, що принесе Його спасіння в світ. Ось так і проявляється і Божа Премудрість і Його подання надії тим, що замість падати в розпуку вдаються до Нього о поміч!

Пресвятая Богородице своїм заступством подай і нам надію та силу вірно служити Богові по всі дня нашого земного життя!

THE NATIVITY OF THE MOTHER OF GOD

The Feast of the Birth of Mary has been celebrated by the Church since the early sixth century. The date of the feast follows Traditions of the Eastern Church which begin its liturgical year one week prior to this date. It is quite symbolic that the Church year ends shortly after the celebration of the Feast of the Dormition of Mary and begins with the Feast of her Birth. A symbol of our lives as well! We begin with our birth into this visible world and move towards our birth into the Invisible world. Mary is our leader in this – and her life and example challenge us to be as humble and obedient to God as she was, as dedicated to Him and as open to His inspiration and guidance.

The date chosen for the Feast was determined by the Church to coincide with the anniversary of the dedication of a Church in Jerusalem built, according to tradition, over the home of Anne, Mary's mother. By using this date for the Birth of Mary, the Church calculated December 22 as the date of Mary's Conception - nine months less a day before her Birth. (Jesus alone has a full nine months between His Conception – April 7, the Feast of the Annunciation, and His Birth, January 7. This is because He, from His very Conception was a perfect Human being).

There is no scriptural evidence for this Feast, but there is traditional evidence for it. The apocryphal "Protoevangelium of James" provides textual evidence to the story surrounding the Conception and Birth of Mary. According to this account, Joachim and Anne are old and infertile and pray to God tearfully for a child. God answers their prayers and promises them a child who will bring His salvation into the world. Thus is manifest His Divine Wisdom and His granting of hope to those who, instead of despairing, turn to Him for help in desperate situations.

Most Holy Theotokos, by Your intercession, grant hope to us also together with the strength to serve God faithfully all the days of our lives! Amen.
